STAGE MANAGEMENT

Funnily enough, I was not originally meant to be the stage manager (of the right side, Hollie did the left side), as I was busy finishing up all the projections during the tech runs. My focus up until that moment was on touching up and fixing issues, editing projections until the last minute, and ensuring everything and all the files worked smoothly with Isadora.
Once the tech work was done, I was free and offered to help as an extra stage hand. The production required a lot of assistance due to the very many scene and set changes. When I arrived, I noticed there was confusion about the running order and set changes. Despite Ciara and Kiki having created a good stage direction document, the team needed someone that knew the running order really well and that would be able to direct them with precise instructions, roles and cues.
Having worked extensively on the projections and studied the running order, I was able to assist and direct the team effectively. I guided them on upcoming scenes, set changes, and costume changes, ensuring everyone was prepared. The role was intense, requiring constant alertness and clear communication.
During the performance, when I was not on the move, I was positioned next to the stage direction panel and would communicate all the directions when needed (they were all pre-set before hand)
Despite hectic dress rehearsals and some initial mistakes, we managed to sort out the confusion by sitting down, writing everything down, and directing the team during the performance. I'm proud of how far we came; the first full run-through was the first time we successfully pulled off everything in such a short amount of time. We were a very hard-working team and I believe, looking back, that we performed exceptionally well under high pressure. This required lots concentration, calmness, and effective communication.
This intense experience led to further opportunities, such as being asked by Simone Martis, a 2nd-year MA student, to be the production manager for his graduating show. Through this, I learned how to run a team, manage a production, and work effectively in intense and stressful situations, maintaining calmness and organization throughout.
